The secret to one pass box-making is that unlike most conventional converting methods, with the Solarco the board is fed end first through the machine. There is no need for the board to be pre-cut to size with a slitter or scheduled off the corrugator with machine scores. This ability to produce cartons from stock board makes for a very fast turn-around.
The Process
1. Stock Sheet
Board in sizes up to 1800mm or 2300mm in length and up to 5000mm in length are fed into the machine cross flute.
2. Slitting & Creasing
The slitting and creasing wheels slit and score the board. In our example the job is two-up with side trim.
2. Slotting
The board is slotted and beam creased. The slot knives can be removed, added & moved around to provide an almost limitless size range.
3. Die-Cutting
The Die Cutting section is large enough to die cut hand holes into the box. It can also be used for cross boxes (Corner cut folders) and full flap RSC’s
4. Guillotining
The final stage is for the machine to trim off the glue flap and cut the sheet across the machine. In this example we are producing two-up down the sheet and trimming off waste on the back edge of the sheet.
